What Is Coaching?

Sports teams have coaches to advise and support their teams. Businesses have consultants or mentors to maximize work performance. Hiring a personal coach allows individuals to maximize their life and work performance and to live the life of their dreams.

Coaching helps basically happy, relatively successful people become MORE successful and fulfilled.

Who Hires a Coach?

Anyone who is motivated to get more out of life in all areas such as: career/work, physical/emotional health, lifestyle/home environment, financial stability and success, transitioning to a new job or career, supporting life transitions like divorce or family illness.

Coaching can help you in:

Maximizing your time, overcoming self-limiting beliefs, achieving more work productivity, changing unsatisfying relationship patterns, learning how to meet your ideal life partner, making more emotionally intelligent dating choices, having a more fulfilling marriage, enlarging your social and support networks, reducing life stress and realizing your potential.

What are you currently tolerating?

Is life easy and enjoyable? Are you living in alignment with your life purpose? Do you have most of what you want? Are you frustrated in certain areas of your life-work, relationships, money, time, juggling responsibilities of career and relationships?

The skills and strategies Deborah teaches prepare coaching clients to increase their chances of living life with more joy and less struggle. Single clients learn the quickest and most effective ways of meeting their ideal life partner or teaching couples how to live with more intimacy and passion. Professional success and personal attractiveness are not guarantees of relationship fulfillment.

Career demands, current involvement financial problems or any unfinished business from the past can stand in the way of living your "perfect "life.

How a Coach Can Help

Deborah will partner with you to find out what your life and relationship goals are. She will listen to you and be your guide, your mentor, your cheerleader. Imagine someone who is TOTALLY focused on you and on your activating your dreams. She will hold you accountable for your life and support and encourage you to follow your heart as well as your head to achieve your desired goals. You will find out what doubts or fears may be holding you back from creating fulfillment. And you will learn how to transform these limiting beliefs to attract more of what you want into your life.

How is Coaching Done?

A free initial 30 minute phone consultation is offered to determine your coaching needs. Then, once a coaching contract is signed, coaching is offered either face to face or over the phone in four 40-minute sessions per month with free between emails, faxes and home assignments that are meant to be inspiring and FUN.

Faxing agendas is often used before sessions so that your coach can realize how you want to focus your sessions. Since coaching can be done over the phone as well as in person, it is not necessary to live in the same state as your coach. Coaching is offered in group or individual formats. Small business coaching or team building involves on-site visitation and is arranged on a contract basis.

What Does Coaching Cost?

Coaching is generally set up on a monthly basis. Most coaches recommend that you commit yourself to a minimum 3 month plan which gives you the time necessary to implement your success strategies and watch the transformation. The cost of each month of coaching is $400. This includes four 40 minute sessions, a comprehensive workbook, between session emails, faxes of weekly coaching assignments, and up to three 10 minute phone calls per week. During the first session, the coaching process, the workbook of exercises and activities, and your personal coaching style preferences are reviewed. Once the first month of coaching is agreed upon and the coaching contract is signed, a $200 deposit is required and will be applied to the $400 fee for the first month of coaching.

Coaching is not Psychotherapy

People seek out psychotherapy experiencing a particularly emotionally difficult time in their lives, when they are in crisis, need healing from past emotional wounds, dealing with devastating life circumstances or struggling with extreme stress (please see "Psychotherapy").

Comparison of Coaching and Therapy

What to Expect

As a psychotherapist, my primary concern is that clients feel safe, comfortable and relaxed in their initial session with me. If someone has had a negative experience with therapy before, I will ask that person to describe what happened so that they can decide whether I can offer them the kind of help they need. In our first session I ask a lot of questions to get a better idea of what brought you to see me, and to get a clearer picture of what is troubling you. I will ask you to fill out a brief questionnaire with information which will help me get to know your needs, problems, and symptoms. Together, we will set your goals for the future which we can agree to modify along the way. At the end of our sessions, I typically summarize our session, ask how you felt during it, and suggest that you prepare to do something beneficial during the next week which we will discuss in our next session.

As a life and relationship coach, I offer you an initial free 30 minute telephone coaching session to determine your needs, to find out if coaching is appropriate for you or if psychotherapy is needed first before transitioning into coaching. If we agree to meet for a coaching session and a contract is signed for the first month of coaching, I give you a workbook filled with stimulating exercises and a questionnaire designed to make your passions flow and to focus on the areas of your life where you want to see growth. I usually coach you for a minimum of 3-6 months, because it usually takes that time to see real results in your life.

Then, you determine what you want to focus on and we meet over the phone or in person (your choice). A typical session would begin with a check-in to see how you are feeling, perhaps a guided meditation exercise to help you focus and get centered. Then, we go over any areas in which you want to be coached, and you receive an exercise or two to work on for your next coaching session based on the action steps you agree to take to move toward your coaching goals. Relationship Coaching is offered as a 4-week package. It's a course in creating your ideal relationship. After the first four weeks, we move into a new 4- week course designed to give you additional tools and coaching support to attract your ideal partner into your life like a magnet.
